Hello Parents!!!
Thank you Thank you Thank you! To all of you who helped cut out Spelling Sorts. You have helped me out more than you know.
*** I am moving the date to organize the classroom library. We won’t be able to do it on the 10th like originally planned. There will be a home ISU game and parking will be needed for the fundraiser. So please plan on the Saturday September 17 to come and help.
Homework: I have had a few questions regarding homework. When your child has a subject/activity/lesson circled in their assignment notebook that means that they did not finish it in class and they have to do it at home. Students are given some work time and are expected to use that time wisely to finish. 2nd graders are not given as much work time as the 1st. Things that are expected to be done at home along with writing in their assignment notebook are studying for their memory verse, going over spelling words, and reading 10-20 minutes.
Field trips: We will be going on a field trip to McFarland Park for an Insectology trip on September 26 from 1-2:30 pm. If you would like to come please let me know.
We will also be going on a field trip to the Nady Farm. The date is possibly set for the 29th. If you would like to come please let me know.
Book Orders: I am sending Book Order forms home today. If you would like to order please order online. The class receives free books for every online order. It’s a great way to expand out classroom library.
Please feel free to call me or email me with any questions or concerns. My number to be reached at is 507-227-5519 or ksikkema@ameschristianschool.org or krstskkm@gmail.com .
God Bless!
Mrs. Sikkema

Introduction to the Sermon on the Mount
1 Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them.
The Beatitudes
He said:
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
