Volunteering

Volunteering at Ames Christian School

Tuition does not cover all of the school's annual expenses. We rely on volunteers to help with many of the needs within the school, including fundraisers that provide the income needed to fill the gap between tuition income and total expenses.

Below are a few of the ongoing opportunities for you to volunteer. If you would like to volunteer for any of the opportunities below, please contact the main office so we can get you involved!

Butterbraid Fundraiser

This has been our traditional first fundraiser for many years and commences shortly after the first day of school. Volunteers help with sorting and delivery in October.

Football Parking

Football fans can help by parking at Ames Christians School during home football games. Volunteers help take payment and park cars prior to game time. This is one of the Big Three fundraising events during the school year.

One Starry Night Gala and Auction

Takes place the first Saturday of December. Benefit the school by attending the event, donating auction items, taking advantage of sponsorship opportunities, or volunteering time to serve on the committee. This is one of the Big Three fundraising events during the school year.

Mileage Club

Volunteers are needed to help set up our lap boundaries, mark cards as the students complete each lap, keep track of students laps, and help put things away. For more information about Mileage Club, please click the following link: http://www.mgmc.org/wellness/mileage-club/

Teacher Appreciation Week

Volunteer to provide food for the teachers; take a shift during morning drop off, recess, or lunch duty; or provide help with planning for the week. We are proud of our teachers and we recognize how important they are in our children's lives!

Bike-a-Thon

Volunteer to help supervise the course as kids go the distance on their bikes to raise funds for the school! A great outdoor activity that gets our students active. Parents can bike, too!

Ames Christian School Golf Outing

Takes place the last Friday of May (Friday of the last week of school). Gather a foursome to play some early season golf. Be a sponsor at the event or invite businesses to participate as sponsors. Volunteer as a member of the planning committee to make sure everything runs smoothly. This is one of the Big Three fundraising events during the school year.

Ongoing Needs

Lunch Helpers

Every day at ACS, volunteers help to serve lunch. Two lunch helpers are needed every day. Most helpers spend about an hour and fifteen minutes helping once a week. It's a great way to get to know the students and teachers at school.

Maintenance

General maintenance at the school is performed by many volunteers who have a penchant for fixing things. There is always a list of tasks to be done. If this is your gift, just ask and we can put you to work.

Technology

More and more of the way we communicate, teach, and stay efficient within the school incorporates technology. Websites, computers, networking, projectors, monitors - if you have a gift for dealing with items filled with electrons, bits, and bytes, we can utilize your talents.

Classroom Helpers

Support during the day for classroom teachers.

Do you have a gift or talent other than what is listed here?

Let us know how you would be comfortable serving. We love seeing how God uses amazing people at ACS.
