Fifth and Sixth Grade

This is my 4th year at Ames Christian School. While I grew up in a Christian school, I never dreamed I would begin my teaching career in one. My impression had been that Christian schools shelter kids from the "real world." That mindset changed for me when I experienced teaching in one first hand. Our goal is to equip students to face the reality, the challenges, and the successes of the world. I love that my class is like a family that grows and bonds together. Sometimes it's painful. Sometimes we share frustrations and difficult questions. Sometimes we have to work through conflict and ask for forgiveness. Sometimes we get to celebrate victories together. The best part of it all is that we have Christ at the center -we seek the Bible for truth, we share our burdens in prayer, and we live with the power of the Holy Spirit within us.

I grew up in a small town in Northern Maine, 5 miles from the New Brunswick border. After high school graduation, I attended Indiana Wesleyan University, where I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in the spring of 2013. I moved to Ames a month after graduating and taught 4 year old preschool at Ames Community Preschool Center for 2013-2014 school year. My dream of teaching 5th grade came true when I was hired at ACS in 2014 to teach both 5th & 6th grade.
