I grew up in a Christian home and knew God at a very early age. As I grew, I developed a real and tangible relationship with Christ, learning to accept His free and good grace. I attended Central College in Pella, Iowa, where I studied Art and Vocal Music Performance. I graduated with a double major, including 2 years of study in Elementary Education. I traveled abroad in London, England, working as an intern for the London Philharmonic Orchestra and visiting every art museum I could find.  I traveled across Europe with a backpack and train tickets, seeing historic artwork from Great Britain to Italy and everything in-between.

My husband and I settled in Kansas City, where I taught art to at-risk youth in various KC urban communities. I was also the Program Coordinator for a local non-profit arts center where I taught art & music classes to children of all ages. I also worked with artists, managed the gallery and judged local art contests, as well as exhibiting my own work in various venues. It was a rewarding and fun way to get experience teaching and immersing myself in the disciplines I loved.

Upon moving to Ames in 2009, we found ACS while looking for a preschool for our oldest daughter. We loved the family community and Christian atmosphere. I've been the art teacher at ACS since 2011. I enjoy being at a school where we can appreciate God's perfect design and creative hand on our lives.
