5th/6th New Recruits

February 3, 2012 - 3:50 PM
We have some fun things going on in the next couple of weeks! This Wednesday the 3rd-6th grade will be attending the ISU symphony. They will be performing Peter and the Wolf! Last year was excellent, and I am really looking forward to a great musical experience.
Then, on the 16th, we will be attending the Egypt exhibit at the Des Moines Science Center. The archaeologist who helped develop the exhibit will be speaking to the students, and we will be attending her presentation. Plus, the IMax movie is on the pyramids! What a blessing to have the opportunity to see this!
Now about $.......we have enough to cover the cost of the Science Center but NOT enough to do both. The symphony is $4 per person so..........I guess I am asking for each student to bring $4 this next week. Since we paid for ice skating in December, we don't quite have enough to pay for both these events.
We are having a good time with the Greek unit. Today we had our own "Olympics" the last hour of the day. The book Pankration has been a fabulous read so far. Lots of excitement! We are also reading Detectives In Togas after lunch each day. It's all Greece all the time.
Here is some of the other things we will be doing this next week:
BIBLE: We will be finishing up the current unit and moving on to WHY DID GOD CREATE ME?
SCIENCE: Review on Monday, test on Tuesday then on to Magnets and Electricity.
READING: Pankration chapters 4-9
MATH 5: 9.1-9.5
MATH 6: 9.1-9.5
HISTORY: Greek family life, home design, art and beginning mythology
SPELLING: Lesson 22
Have a great weekend!
